QUESTS — FEBRUARY 2022
AGGROCULTURAL
POSTING LOCATION: Tikal
DESCRIPTION: Dealing with difficult plants is typically the Salamanders' job, in part due to the fact that they prefer to collect them for potions and study—but a Jaguar's job is to eliminate threats, and that's exactly what these particular plants are. While corpse flowers are not typically seen so far from Coatepec, the natural vegetation coupled with the incense's rage-inducing effects and all of the bloated dead washing up outside Kiichpan's ruined borders has resulted in a large influx of these dangerous mutations. While already a threat in their most common state, partially devouring live prey and expelling toxic, nauseating gases reeking of the dead as the bodies are absorbed into their twisted form, this strain are also especially voracious and aggressive. They need to be stopped before they infiltrate Kiichpan and desecrate the dead even further, not to mention the threat they pose to those still alive.
REWARD: No monetary payout, but any efforts to preserve pieces for the Salamanders to use is appreciated and will be compensated with potions using what they bring back once they've been made. These are typical poison treatments, but the inner core of the corpse flower has a stamen that, when brewed correctly with the right ingredients, produces a steeling elixir that provides a short burst (1-3 hours) of increased strength, speed, and defense.

FEED THE PEOPLE
POSTING LOCATION: Coba
DESCRIPTION: As one would expect, Coba was less than prepared for all the extra mouths to feed, clothe, house, and care for. An urgent call has been put out to any and all willing to assist in any way they can. Food is the most required, so hunters will be greatly compensated, as well as anyone able to cook that food, as outside perhaps the bar and a few other places that serve food, there aren't nearly enough people competent in the kitchen to go around. They also very much need clothing, toiletries and basic household supplies, especially for women and children (there never were all that many of them living in Coba before).
REWARD: Monetary payout will be sporadic, most of this will be charity work, but if you report in with an account of what you've done the Eagles will compensate with gold, spare equipment and masks, free drinks, and temporary lodging.

ALL ALONG THE WATCHTOWER
POSTING LOCATION: Coba
DESCRIPTION: Historically, Coba's defenses have always been lax. Their walls and gates, while tall and functional, are often afterthoughts in the constant coming and going of the Eagles, passing travelers, and of course enticing monsters into the city to capture and tame. Following the events in Kiichpan, dedicated gatekeeps have been assigned to close and open the gates as needed, security measures have been put in place, and craftsmen from Tikal have been sent to assess the structural integrity of the houses, towers, and other buildings and make improvements as needed. However, they need considerable assistance with checking the walls for weak points and, while that's been worked on, bodies in the watchtowers to keep the builders from being attacked on the job. Two to a tower, full time shift, with the expectation that should anything come along and cause problems, anyone on watch will help take care of it. The likelihood of monster attacks is high, as they've been constantly dogging the refugees from Kiichpan and other travelers coming to lend their aid. Coba has always been in the least fortunate position in the center of the continent and in an especially windy area, but it's never had such a large number of people all clustered in its borders before, so they're woefully understaffed for the sheer onslaught they've been facing.
REWARD: Hourly pay for watchtower duty, plus bonuses for monsters slain.

A MAY QUEEN IN FEBRUARY
POSTING LOCATION: Coba
DESCRIPTION: Famous for its parties all year long, there's certainly no better time for a big one immediately following a tragic, catastrophic event, right? The Eagles certainly think so, and they've pulled out all the stops to set up an event to lift the refugees' spirits (and everyone else who happens to be in the city, too). Drinks and merriment at Viento, a maypole in the center of town, and a bright and colorful Festival of Offering at the dragon statue. Coterie, locals, and displaced persons are all invited to participate, and a paid posting has been laid out for anyone with skills, supplies, or talents that might help liven the place out further. In particular, they could use musicians, especially if they have their own instruments, and anyone talents for sewing and weaving to make banners, help with the maypole, and design costumes for a play. The party will begin officially on the fourteenth, but celebrations will carry on for as long as they have the manpower to spare... assuming nothing comes along and ruins it like the last time.
REWARD: Gold for time spent and supplies offered, and will be able to keep anything they make afterward. The costumes in particular come with gold and jeweled adornments, the clothes made from high-quality fabric. There will also be instruments handed out to a limited degree, a flower crown for the winner of the maypole dance, and gifted bottles of mead and wine.

THE MOST PROSPEROUS CITY
POSTING LOCATION: Kiichpan
DESCRIPTION: The largest, greatest city on the continent is in ruins. Only half of it remains accessible on foot—otherwise, you need a canoe to navigate it. All the fires have since been extinguished, but below stagnant pools of both fresh and sea water that have flooded the western portion of the city, goods, supplies, and corpses need to be recovered. The problem extends well beyond finding a way to get under the water, or contending with the innumerable carnivorous fish, aquatic and semi-aquatic monsters, and leeches that now pose a constant threat to the rescue effort. It's that the source of the flood needs to be blocked. The outer walls and dams were completely destroyed during the struggle with Quetzalcoatl, and the tsunami that crashed through the city also destroyed the aqueducts that were keeping the southern waters, where the Sahagin kingdom is located within the Tenyo ruins, at bay as well. Both points need to be blocked, borders reconstructed, before they have any hope of bringing the water level down in the city itself and recovering anything.

Assistance is needed in every area from construction to recovery, but especially in fending off the monsters. There are Cipactli, both varieties of leeches, leaping anglerfish, and other dangerous seafaring monsters, as well as the constant Sahagin threat. Specific information on these monsters can be found in the bestiary. Furthermore, a push will be made to the Tenyo ruins to the south to attempt to eliminate the Sahagins for good, or at least drive them away. A survey to determine whether the area can be reclaimed as part of the city will need to be conducted as well, as up until recently, it had been abandoned and all but forgotten.
REWARD: Compensation will be sporadic, as the Vipers really have nothing to spare at the moment. Anyone able to eliminate or drive off the Sahagins will be paid, as well as promised lodging in the area should it be possible to build there.

AN OLD FLAME
POSTING LOCATION: Kiichpan
DESCRIPTION: Perhaps a strange request to have posted, but it has been handwritten by Viper herself. In essence, she would like anyone in the city to relight all of the torches, sconces, and candles that once burned every minute of the day in Kiichpan in respect of local customs. Nearly everything was extinguished during the calamity, and it's causing distress to the people of the area, inviting superstition and, if some are to believed, might even be responsible for the influx of monsters. After this has been done to the best of everyone's ability, a relighting ceremony will be held at New Fire Square, which is still intact. Much like earlier in the month, before the entire city exploded, there they'll be offering a basin of holy flame to purify oneself and their possessions. Security will be needed around the square to protect the ritual goers, as well as once preparations start being made for the funeral pyre that's still being planned.
REWARD: No monetary compensation, but anyone who participates will receive warding tokens in the shape of tiny flames to carry with them. These are typically handed out during a certain holiday, but the locals have decided to give them out early in a gesture of good faith.
