Sorry for the delay, had to give this some thought! This character could still keep his magic in one of two ways, depending on how you'd like to play it out:
1. His gods would still be able to hear him (similar to how, say, Yuna from FFX would still be able to call upon the Fayth to summon, even though the Fayth aren't actually in this world) because Interrealm Shenanigans.
2. Without spoiling too much of the game's story, there are elemental "gods" of a sort that he could draw upon to use his powers here, however there won't be a lot of information on them or how they work for awhile, so as long as a vague concept of "these powers exist, but that's all we know" would work, that's also an option.
