COTERIE INTERACTIONS (IC) - CHAPTER I

COTERIE INTERACTIONS
✶ ✶ ✶
The leader of each coterie, all colloquially known by the same name as their group—Jaguar, Eagle, Viper, and Salamander—will play a major role in the story, oftentimes appearing in events and even, during major plots, accompanying the player characters on their quests. While having constant access to them in threads would be difficult to keep track of and may lead to unfair advantages for some characters, and they will never directly comment to any network or log posts made in

Note that it is fine to handwave minor interactions with the NPCs, such as in the case of exposition or receiving their quest orders, and you do not need to thread that out here nor ask permission from the mods. Relationships beyond passing familiarity as leader/subordinate cannot be handwaved however—in general, characters will not "build CR" with their leader to the degree they might with other characters in the game. They will still get to know them well over the course of the story, though.
Please also note that the NPCs are played by the mod team and are subject to the same tagging speed or question-answering expectations. We will respond as soon as we can!

[ There's rueful humour there, before she clears her throat. ]
For what it's worth, I understand why the four of you kept us at arms length, even with what some of us have accomplished. We emerged from the mist that's been haunting and hurting this island and its people for decades, after all. But you still opened your gates to us, gave us a chance to recover and settle in. Those who've arrived later may not recognise that for what it is, but for someone powerless compared to the others that arrived out of the incense...Know that that kindness is something I will still do my best to repay.
And if I can do so by being the Viper representative here, then, consider the job accepted. [a hint of humour] Though I hope Salamander plans to partner me with someone of her choosing, once you inform her? If we're working as a coterie team, that is.

'Sfar as who you'd work with, she'd probably welcome your input. I dunno her people that well, but she's close to hers like I'm close to mine. Hell, if we could get one'a each working in each city, that'd be something, but...
[ Scoffing. ]
One step at a time.

[ She's not particularly concerned about compensation - at least, not the monetary. There's a faint hum in her throat. ]
One step at a time indeed.
That said, I'd be happy to speak with her at her convenience to get things rolling, but that leads me to my second question: did you inform the other coterie leaders of what happened to me, after the Tezcatli temple? Or should that be something I inform them of, assuming they hadn't listened to my earlier medallion broadcast?
no subject
[ And she should've, that much is evident, but not any more so than the million other things they obviously should've communicated to each other before things got this bad. ]
Not sure what they listen to and what they don't, whether they're readin' the journals, all that... I've got my guesses on who pays attention and who doesn't, but honestly with Salamander you never know. She's always got her head in a million different places. Probably ought to mention it anyway, though. Yeah.

I understand. Should I leave that to you? Or would it be better that I inform her? ..Do I have anything to worry about if she is told? [is there medical mad science she needs to be on the lookout for here]
I can think of a couple of places that could work as a station here, though how big it needs to be will no doubt need Salamander's approval, I suppose. Will I be notified of what duties you'd like me handling as your proxy in writing while I'm here?
no subject
[ She's aware of the particular special flavors of crazy Salamander can be, but she isn't so sure any of them would apply here... probably? ]
In writing, over the medallions, or both, yeah. I'm not big on formalities, [ obviously ] but we'll get it ironed out between the two of us and keep you posted. An' if you got ideas, add 'em to the list.

I believe there's a few large buildings within the main town that could be useful, but perhaps something further out, not far from one of the gates in might be better. Easier to direct coterie traffic where it should be, rather than distract from the city's main focus. Beyond that, I don't have much to add yet, but I'll be ready and waiting for when you both have something settled.
